Originally a private house, Arnold Hill House was built for John Rogers between 1841 and 1843. Rogers was a Nottingham businessman associated with I & R Morley’s. He was also Sheriff of Nottingham.

Around 1842, one of the Rogers family Sarah Rogers married Henry Ashwell of Woodthorpe Grange, the grand building and grounds that now Woodthorpe Grange Park.

In 1911 Arnold Hill House was in the possession John Deverill Walker, listed to be a “bone grinder” whose premises included the Forge Mills at Bestwood. Walker’s company produced glues and manure.

Arnold Hill House also served in the role of hotel and US Army officers club during the war years.

The building was later purchased for the Hardy Hanson Brewery portfolio, and Kimberley Ales supplied the beer when it opened as The Tree Tops public house in 1963.
