Mapperley All Stars – Football Coaching

Mapperley People recently got to see one of the many sessions run by Mapperley All Stars Coaching. With an impressive team of coaches, including some ex-professionals. MAS really is providing quality football coaching for all.

Mapperley All Stars (MAS) was founded back in 2016 by director Nathan Kenney, whose own story is inspiring on its own. After experiencing homelessness at the age of 15, he returned to education at 25 discovered a passion for teaching. Nathan graduated from University with a first class honours degree in sport and inclusion. He teaches at Stanhope School in Gedling. Nathan is a lifelong Mapperley man, having grown up here and now living and working in the area he calls home.

Mapperley All Stars (MAS) Football Coaching provides fun and friendly football coaching to children aged two years and above, including mixed sessions and girls’ only sessions.

MAS coaching now has around 500 children playing football each week and an online community of over 2000 in and around Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

‘We pride ourselves in delivering engaging,

informative and all-inclusive classes with a focus on fun’

Aiming to equip children with not just football skills but key life skills. Building confidence, encouraging team work and giving them resilience that they can use beyond the playing field.

They also provide adult sessions for both men and women such as Pay ’n’ Play and Kick it Off. These provide fun and sociable ‘fitness style’ football sessions, helping to keep people active and healthy.

Mapperley Has A Great Reputation

We were curious why Nathan included the name Mapperley in title of the company:

I choose the name Mapperley All stars as it’s an area in which I grew up. It has a great reputation and also lends itself to many other neighbouring areas such as Gedling, Arnold, Carlton, Sherwood, Lambley among others. Everybody has a connection to Mapperley in one way or another.

So what make the area so special?

For me, what makes Mapperley unique is its ability to reach out and extend far beyond its demographic. That’s what we like to do with our coaching sessions. To reach out and offer the benefits both physical and mental that sport and in particular football brings.

The Bigger Picture

Alongside the regular weekly sessions for children across Nottinghamshire, there are half-term football camps, a full suite of training for their top quality coaches.

MAS has plans to expand over the next couple of years. They are appealing to local businesses to help them in making their dreams become a reality.

Maybe your business would like to sponsor them? Financial support will future proof the services that they offer.

Nathan sees the Bigger Picture for sport in the area:

With a thousand new homes being built in the Glebe Farm development and an increasing demand for sport and physical well-being, there is no better time to scale up what we currently offer to our local community. We currently coach over 750 children and adults each week. With a huge waiting list for each session, we have the potential to coach and run sessions for so many more! The local facilities plan for Gedling indicates a need for another 3g venue to be built. We believe we are the perfect fit to bring this plan to fruition.

Well done to Nathan and his team.
