Hearth and History

White Cottage and Pelham House are two of the oldest properties on Woodthorpe Drive in Nottingham. Woodthorpe Drive was originally known as Scout Lane and was farmland until the late 19th century. Here’s their history, with thanks to @hearthandhistoryshop for researching them.

Pride of Gedling
Hey everyone, I’ve just realized that the Pride of Gedling award is open again, and it reminded me that last year someone mentioned the guy at PhoneFix Mapperley really deserves a nomination. At the time, nominations had closed, and I truly don’t know how he hasn’t been nominated before. He’s such a pillar of the community—always helping the elderly and so many people would be lost without his kindness and helpfulness. Now that the nominations are open again, let’s make sure he gets the recognition he truly deserves this time!”— feeling thankful.

Couldn’t agree more, lovely bloke. Closed his shop to help me look for car keys I’d dropped along the top somewhere. Even gave me a lift home to get the spare car keys I’d dropped. Happy ending, another pillar of the community found the missing keys and we were reunited the next day! -Mark Aleksy
“I’m guessing this is Akers. What a lovely, patient man. An elderly customer couldn’t fly to see her daughter in Australia at Christmas even when lock-down had eased so he invited her to his home on the day.He has the patience of a Saint with technophobes like me. Highly recommended.”
“Thank you all so much for the kind words! I’m truly blown away by all the amazing comments. I really appreciate the support and encouragement. Mapperley is honestly the best place to work, surrounded by such wonderful people. It means the world to me!” Akers
